Who We Are

Peter Hall - Clarinet and Saxaphone

Peter began his musical career playing the clarinet in jazz bands in London in the 1960s. After moving to Derby, he joined the City of Derby Brass Band playing the tuba and soon afterwards joined Brookside Jazz. Peter still whips his tuba out regularly with the Derwent Valley Wind Band.

Mike Hudd - Drums

David Kimmins - Guitar and Banjo

David’s early claim to fame was with the Stane St. Band in Sussex which backed Mick Mulligan and George Melly on ‘Society’ gigs. On moving to Nottingham in 1972 he played with a number of bands, in particular for ten years with Leicester’s Classic Jazz Band, and six with Matt Palmer’s Millennium Band, which appeared at many of the Jazz Festivals and Clubs around the country. He now plays with the Ford Jones Dixieland Band and leads the New Classic Jazz Band, as well as playing with the Brookside. When not playing jazz David paints (canvases, not walls!!) and occasionally designs or directs amateur stage productions

Joe Nutman - Keyboard.

A founder member of Brookside Jazz, Joe trained as a classical pianist and has worked in pop bands as well as being a church organist in his youth. He still deps for the

occasional church service where he enjoys treating the congregation to a

little jazz orientated hymn playing! His stride piano style is modelled on Fats

Waller and the legendary Scott Joplin. Joe is available to dep in other bands if required. See "Band News" for details of forthcoming festivals.

Jayne Russell - Vocals

When not singing jazz, Jayne can usually be found treading the boards at one of Nottingham's theatres. A member of the Nottingham Operatic Society and Carlton Operatic Society, Jayne has enjoyed playing a number of lead roles in many of her favourite musicals. See "Band News" for details of her next appearance.

We also have a number of additional musicians and vocalists we can incorporate into the line up to suit your requirements.
